Mental Health First Aid

Wimmera PCP Supporting Community Education

Wimmera Primary Care Partnership coordinates the Mental Health First Aid program in the Wimmera. Using a team of instructors, these Accredited courses help participants learn the signs and symptoms of when someone’s mental health may be in decline and it also supports participants to gain confidence to have difficult discussions about suicide or voicing their concerns for someone’s welfare. The following courses are available by booking through Wimmera PCP:

  1. Standard Mental Health First Aid – 2-day course
    • This course is available for adults supporting adults.
  2. Youth Mental Health First Aid –2-day course
    • This course is for Adults supporting young adults and youth.
  3. Refresher Youth Mental Health First Aid – 4 hours
    • This course will refresh information learned in previously. New learners are also welcome to attend but won’t be able to access accreditation.
  4. Teen Mental Health First Aid – 3 x 1-hour course
    • This course is for Secondary School students delivered over three x 1 hour sessions.
  5. Conversations about suicide – 4 hours
    • Learn about the signs and symptoms that someone might be suicidal and how to support them.
  6. Conversations about non-suicidal self-injury – 4 hours
    • Learn about the signs that someone might be engaging in self-harm and how to support them.

*Shorter sessions are available for delivery by the Rural Outreach Team. Please note the shorter sessions are not accredited or endorsed by Mental Health First Aid Australia.
